ARTIST STATEMENT

My work is concerned with states of transition in which presence is shifting but has not disappeared. Working primarily in black and white, I develop long-term photographic series through observation, repetition and restraint. Personal experience often provides an initial impulse, while the work moves beyond autobiography towards questions of intimacy, memory, vulnerability, impermanence and what remains.

I am drawn to moments in which change becomes perceptible without being fully resolved. Gesture, distance, traces and absence can carry as much weight as what is directly visible. Rather than explaining these conditions, I try to remain close to their ambiguity and to the forms of continuity that can persist through transition.

My background in music informs how I think about rhythm, sequence and pause, both within individual photographs and across a body of work.
